Public Speaking and Team Policy Debate
Verbal communication is essential in our world. As long as man exist, the spoken word will be the most influential medium of communication. The vast majority of jobs list “effective communications skills” as a job requirement. It is important therefore, to learn to speak effectively as well as listen critically. To do this, one must develop poise and confidence when speaking before a large audience or one on one. I believe a structured class that incorporates the different types of speeches with the opportunity for outside competition is the best way to build a child's confidence and poise. Public Speaking is primarily for students needing to fulfill the speech requirement or for students who feel they need speech before taking debate. Debate is designed to prepare students for participation in NCFCA tournament competition. Debate requires access to the Internet.
