In the fall of 2003, Podium Power debate students began competition in the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) under the club name Podium Power Forensics Club. For five years Podium Power students consistently ranked among the top 15 teams in Texas as well as winning top speaker honors. Due to time constraints, Podium Power will no longer sponsor debate teams for NCFCA competition.

Welcome to Podium Power

The ability of our citizens to express an informed opinion, support that opinion and turn that opinion into action is what will continue to make this nation great. The skills and knowledge gained in speech, debate, and government will help our youth be better prepared to be conscientious, articulate leaders for tomorrow.

Based on that belief, Podium Power was started in the fall of 2001 to provide speech, debate, and government classes for home school students. Podium Power is the oldest home school speech and debate group in the Austin area.

Instructor

Marlene Yousef, founder and owner of Podium Power, is a home school mom with over 30 years of teaching experience. She received a B. A degree in political science and history from Sam Houston State University and has pursued graduate studies in theater and speech.

During her tenure in the public school system, Mrs. Yousef was actively involved in U.I.L. as one-act play director and speech coach.
